Elizabeth Mitchell
Vice President For Legislative and Political Affairs
Elizabeth was born and raised in DC and has spent most of her life living in AU Park. She spent 13 years in NYC where she earned her law degree from Brooklyn Law School, fought for housing and basic rights for the city's indigent and elderly populations, lobbied for marriage equality and equal rights, and started a family. Upon moving back to DC in 2015 to be closer to family, Elizabeth pivoted into politics and worked with local groups to optimize their resources and focus on flipping state legislatures. She co-founded DC Blue Wave which is (sadly) the only political group to support state legislative candidates who support DC Statehood. DC Blue Wave has raised almost $100,000 for state legislative races, sent close to 50,000 postcards, knocked on thousands of doors, and helped elect over 50 state lawmakers. She worked with the The States Project to build a community of thousands of donors and volunteers who are committed to fighting dark money in state politics and supporting candidates and lawmakers who are devoted to their constituents and building a better future for all. She is an experienced political and communications professional who has advised lawmakers, candidates, and causes at the state and local level but still finds time to take long walks with her 65lb wrecking ball of a black lab, Lady Violet. Elizabeth is also a member of the DC Democratic State Committee, MFDW, DC for Democracy, WFP, Ward 3 Democrats, and Ward 3 Ed Net.
